Rupee weakens against US dollar on Friday
The Indian rupee weakened against the US dollar on Friday tracking firm American currency and weak domestic equities after mixed signals from the US Federal Reserve. Moreover, worries over US tariffs on India and global trade uncertainties have dented rupee sentiments further. However Foreign Institutional Investors bought equities worth ?366.69 crore on a net basis on Thursday, exchange data showed.
The partially convertible currency is currently trading at 88.29, weaker by 9 paise from its previous close of 88.20 on Thursday. The currency touched a high and low of 88.3425 and 88.1875 respectively.
